Open tryouts for sports, cheer and dance teams start Wednesday.
Students interested in men’s basketball register from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. Thursday in Gym 2 and try out Friday at 7 a.m. in Gym 1.
Last year, the men’s team took the 2009 Regular Season and Tournament Conference Championship.
Registration for women’s basketball will be from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Thursday in Gym 1 with tryouts next week Sept.1 and Sept. 3 in Gym 1.
Volleyball registration for women and men will be from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Gym 1 with tryouts from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 in Gym 1 for both teams.
A part-time men’s volleyball instructor is needed. Apply online at https://accdpeoplelink.accd.edu.
Men and women’s soccer registration is from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at the information desk in Loftin Student Center.
The women’s tryouts are from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Sept. 1 and from 1 p.m.-3 p.m Sept. 4 on the Olmos Basin soccer field. The men’s soccer team, coached by Lance Nobles, will try out from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 2 and Sept. 4 on the Olmos Basin soccer field.
Golfers can sign up for the college team from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday in Loftin. Men’s tryouts will be from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 31 at the San Pedro Golf Course. Women can try out from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 1.
Tennis registration is from 4:30-5:30 on Thursday at the campus tennis courts. Tryouts are from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 1 and Thursday Sept. 3 at the tennis courts.
Baseball registration will be at 5 p.m. Friday in Loftin. The tryouts will be 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 12 at Olmos Field at 5200 McCullough.
The athletic department is accepting applications for a softball coach. Baseball coach Sam Gallegos is accepting e-mails from students interested in joining the softball team until a coach is hired. He can be reached at swtgrad04@yahoo.com.
The softball tryouts are scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 12.
Students interested in cheerleading can register from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday outside the east entrance to Candler Physical Education Center. Tryouts for the cheer squad will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 also outside Candler.
Registration for the dance team will be from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Friday in the dance studio in Candler although a dance instructor is still needed. Tryouts have been scheduled for 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 outside the east entrance to Candler.
Participants must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. so classes don’t conflict with practice and game schedules.
